What is Lítačka?
Lítačka is the official transit card of Prague Integrated Transport (PID), which you use to pay for rides on the metro, trams, buses, trains and ferries across Prague and the surrounding area. It is issued by the City of Prague in partnership with the DPP transit operator.
It comes in two forms: a physical chip card and the PID Lítačka app on your phone. The card carries an electronic travel pass (monthly, quarterly or annual) for unlimited rides. It holds no money credit: single tickets are bought in the PID Lítačka app, at a ticket machine or by SMS.
The app is free; PID charges for issuing the physical card (the price depends on how you apply). Below you will find how to buy a pass and how to check its validity.

PID tariff effective 1 January 2026. Fares are cheaper in the PID Lítačka app. Seniors aged 60–65 pay a reduced fare (30 min 18/19 Kč, 90 min 23/25 Kč in the app / on paper). Children aged 6–15 and seniors 65+ ride free in Prague; juniors aged 15–18 and students aged 18–26 get a discount only on travel passes (130 Kč a month, 360 Kč a quarter, 1 280 Kč a year).

Where and how to get a Lítačka?
- On the spot — at the PID Lítačka information centre in the Škoda Palace and at selected DPP information centres and sales points. Issuing the card is charged according to the PID price list.
- Online at litacka.cz — register, upload a photo, and the card is mailed to you, or use the app straight away instead.
- PID Lítačka app — get the card on your phone in moments, free of charge, with no waiting.
- Discounts — children aged 6–15 and seniors 65+ ride free in Prague; juniors 15–18, students 18–26 and seniors 60–65 get reduced passes. Proof of eligibility is given when registering.

Frequently asked questions
Lítačka holds no money balance — it only carries passes. The easiest way to see which pass you have and until when it is valid is the PID Lítačka app or your account on litacka.cz; DPP information centres can check it too.
In the PID Lítačka app or on litacka.cz by card, or at a sales point. A pass bought online is paired with your card automatically and becomes valid on the date you chose.
The PID Lítačka app is free. PID charges for issuing the physical card (the price depends on how you apply, see litacka.cz); apply online at litacka.cz or get it on the spot at the PID Lítačka information centre in the Škoda Palace and at selected DPP information centres.
A travel pass (monthly, quarterly, annual) gives unlimited rides and pays off for everyday travel. Occasional riders buy single tickets in the PID Lítačka app, at a ticket machine or by SMS — neither single tickets nor credit are loaded onto the card itself.
Yes, but you still need to buy a ticket: pay by bank card at a station machine (stamp the ticket before entering the metro) or at the terminal inside a tram, bus or trolleybus. A travel pass can also be loaded onto a bank card. PID has no automatic fare deduction on entry, and the metro has no turnstiles.

A standard travel pass is personal and valid only for its holder. For sharing there is a transferable pass (1 000 Kč a month, 2 700 Kč a quarter, 7 800 Kč a year), which only one passenger can use at a time.
Yes, Lítačka is the card for the whole PID system. A pass is valid in the fare zones you chose — for trips beyond Prague, choose a pass covering the relevant zones.
